Celebrity Encounter at the Temple Newsam Memory Walk

A team from Oulton Manor took part in the Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk on Saturday 23 September, held in the beautiful parkland of Temple Newsam in Leeds.

The event aims to raise awareness and to raise funds for scientific research and to help support people living with dementia. This year over 4,000 people of all ages took part.

Actor John Middleton, star of the television soap Emmerdale whose character Ashley Thomas developed dementia, opened the event.

Oulton Manor resident Audrey Thackray spotted John during the walk and had a chat. He then presented her medal at the end of the course. This is the second year Audrey has completed the 6km walk as part of the Oulton Manor team.

Kim Eames, lifestyle coordinator at Oulton Manor said: “The Memory Walk is a great event. We’d like to thank each of our many generous sponsors who helped the team to raise a fabulous total of over £200 for the Alzheimer’s Society.”
