Forties Day “a huge success” at Wetherby Manor

Wetherby Manor held a 1940’s themed day involving residents, families, friends and staff on 25 June. People dressed up to recreate times gone by and a 1940’s inspired hamper - containing items such as Camp coffee, blancmange, condensed milk and Spam - was the star raffle prize.

Sing-along entertainment in the afternoon was so popular more seating was brought into the main lounge.

“The day was a huge success, residents are still talking about it,” said senior carer and organiser of the event Janet Ashton.

“It really brought back memories and there has been so much conversation about the music, the food and, for some of our residents, about life in the Wrens and the RAF.

“Residents are now very keen to be involved in the planning for our 1960’s themed day which will take place in August.”
