Bupa UK acquires Crossley House, Sunnyview House, Ridley Park, Edmund House, Berkeley House and Berkeley Square

Bupa UK has today acquired the above care homes and two development sites from Hadrian Healthcare Group.

Ian Watson, chairman of Hadrian Healthcare Group commented: "These are first class homes providing the very best in accommodation and care standards for residents. New Luxury Care Home Opens In Knaresborough

The Manor House in Knaresborough is now officially open after a celebration event on Thursday 26 November. Guests of honour were Dr David Bellamy OBE and Mrs Rosemary Bellamy, and Councillors Andrew and Christine Willoughby the Mayor and Mayoress of Knaresborough.

The Manor House in Knaresborough, which will provide residential and dementia care for elderly people, is holding an Open Weekend on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November from 10am to 4pm each day.

Honorary Freeman Title Awarded to Mr Parkin Raine

The Town Mayor of Barnard Castle, Councillor Sandra Moorhouse, has presented the title of honorary freeman of the town to Mr Parkin Raine. The Town Council has awarded this in recognition of his outstanding contribution to recording life in Teesdale.

The ceremony took place at The Manor House care home where Mr Raine now lives on Sunday 25 October.

Two Top Garden Awards For The Manor House, Whickham

The Manor House Whickham is celebrating two garden awards again this year.

The awards were won in the Whickham in Bloom competition with a first prize Diploma for Excellence in Horticulture in the commercial premises category for the fifth year running and in the Northumbria in Bloom (Communities Growing Together) care category for the second year running.

Yorkshire in Bloom Gold for "Stunning" Wetherby Manor

Wetherby Manor care home in Wetherby has scooped a gold award at this year's Yorkshire in Bloom competition. The awards ceremony was held at York Racecourse on 8 September and was attended by over 350 guests.

Wetherby Manor was a joint gold winner in the public and private charitable establishments category. The judges described the gardens as "stunning" and the quality of planting as "first class". They also said the underlying philosophy and thought given to the structure, design, planting and maintenance of the gardens were to be commended.

Sun Shines for Summer Fayre at The Manor House

Residents, family, friends and the local community enjoyed the annual Summer Fayre at The Manor House, Barnard Castle on Saturday 15 August.

The famous Barnard Castle Brass Band provided the entertainment throughout the afternoon with a selection of well loved tunes whilst people tucked into freshly baked cream teas and cakes from The Manor House’s own kitchen. Local art and craft stalls selling a wide range of gifts from scented candles to jewellery included Holly Cottage Crafts, Waxarama and Maggies Crafts. Helen Ford, a carer at The Manor House, also displayed items from her Cute as a Button Arts range.

Heaton Catering Equipment Congratulates Oliver Smith, NACC Care Cook of the Year

Newcastle-based Heaton Catering Equipment has presented Oliver Smith, head chef at Hadrian Healthcare Group’s Wetherby Manor care development, with a set of Sabatier knives in recognition of his recent National Association of Care Catering (NACC) award win.

Oliver won the prestigious NACC Care Cook of the Year title in June in a dramatic cook-off against finalists from across the country.

Promotion for Care Home Manager with Hadrian Healthcare Group

Luxury elderly care provider Hadrian Healthcare Group has promoted Morag Purvis, previously manager at the company’s Ridley Park care home in Blyth, to the post of operations director.

Oliver Smith, head chef at Wetherby Manor has been crowned the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Care Cook of the Year 2015. This is the third year running a Hadrian Healthcare Group chef has claimed the coveted title.

The dynamic final cook-off for the national culinary competition took place on Wednesday 10 June at Barking & Dagenham College’s Technical Skills Academy. The competition spotlights the skill, talent and dedication to excellence demonstrated by chefs in the care sector on a daily basis.

Bishop Of Durham Visits The Manor House As Part Of Prayer Walk

The Rt Revd Paul Butler, Bishop of Durham, met residents and staff at The Manor House, Whickham for afternoon tea on Thursday 14 May.

The visit was part of Bishop Paul’s four day Prayer Walk to get to know the people in Gateshead West Deanery, part of the Diocese of Durham. The Prayer Walk is the first of two happening this year in a cycle of walks over eight years.

May Celebrates 100th Birthday At The Manor House

Mrs May Small celebrated her 100th birthday at The Manor House, Gosforth with a special lunch party for family and friends on 15 May.

May was born in Jesmond, one of nine children, and went to Chillingham Road School. Her late husband John asked her to a ball as their first date, and May says it was love at first sight.

Sun Shines on the Spring Fayre at The Manor House

Bottle feeding spring lambs stole the show at The Manor House Spring Fayre at Barnard Castle on Saturday 18 April as residents and their families, friends and visitors enjoyed the sunshine and homemade afternoon tea.

The lambs, from Wetheriggs Animal Rescue, were accompanied by rabbits, chicks and an albino hedgehog.

Hadrian Healthcare Acquires Harrogate Site

Hadrian Healthcare Group is expanding its portfolio of luxury elderly care homes with the acquisition of a prestigious site in Harrogate.

The site is the former Alexander Court Nursing Home on the Duchy Estate. The neighbouring Rutland Drive was recently named Yorkshire’s most expensive street.
