Christmas Fireworks And Lighting Of The Tree

The Christmas firework display at The Manor House in Gosforth is now a tradition and marks the lighting of the Christmas tree in the garden.

Residents, relatives and staff welcomed the local community and enjoyed carols, mulled wine and mince pies together.

Jane and Marina Gain Level 5 Care Qualifications

Two members of staff at Ridley Park care home in Blyth, which is part of Hadrian Healthcare Group, have gained Level 5 Diplomas in Leadership & Management for Health & Social Care.

Marina Wilson is the principal carer for the home’s residential section and Jane Tworkowski is a qualified nurse and deputy home manager leading the nursing team.

Hadrian Healthcare Sponsors Bohemian Football Club U16s

Hadrian Healthcare Group is sponsoring the newly formed U16s section at Gosforth Bohemian Football Club, thought to be the first U16s in the club’s 120 year history.

Around 20 boys are now involved in the section and the team is competing in the North East Youth Development League (NEYDL) this season.

Queenie Celebrates 102nd Birthday at The Manor House

 Four generations came together to celebrate Mrs Queenie Armstrong’s 102nd birthday in style at The Manor House Whickham on 4 November.

Queenie was born in Blaydon. Her husband Jack, who passed away 20 years ago, served in the Navy for 22 years and they lived in Portsmouth and Scotland. Queenie moved into The Manor House this summer.

Garden Wins Awards Again For The Manor House, Whickham

The garden at The Manor House, Whickham has won the commercial category of the Summer Garden Competition for Whickham & District in Bloom for the fourth year running, and a gold medal for the best kept grounds of a care home in Northumbria in Bloom.

Liz Dixon, manager of The Manor House said: “We’re absolutely delighted to win the Whickham & District award again. We are very proud to have won every year since we opened in 2011.

Nutritional expertise at Northumbria University, Newcastle has helped enhance the menus of a prestigious care provider.

Hadrian Healthcare Group commissioned research by Carole Marshall, a registered nutritionist at Northumbria, to identify how their meals could provide improved nutrition and hydration for their residents.

Fun At The Manor House Summer Fayre

Residents, family, friends and members of the local community enjoyed the annual Summer Fayre in the gardens at The Manor House, Gosforth on Saturday 5 July.

Local scouts from Brunton Park set up a coconut shy, medieval stocks and hook a duck. Expert face painting delighted younger visitors too.

The lifestyle coordinators at Hadrian Healthcare Group homes are helping residents stay as active as they want to be. From boccia to ballroom, crafts to coffee mornings there’s something to interest everyone.

Residents have taken part in reminiscence sessions at local museums, played golf, gone swimming and to the seaside. Gardening, cake making, exercise classes and music, to list a few, are all on the activities ‘menu’.

Two Hadrian Healthcare Chefs Win Regional Care Cook Awards

Two of Hadrian Healthcare Group’s chefs have won awards in the regional finals of the Care Cook of the Year competition, organised by the National Association of Care Catering (NACC).

Jennie Smith, a chef at Berkeley House in Hull, won best main course for her smoked mackerel frittata in the midlands regional heat and now goes forward to the national final.
